Suggested Itineraries

If you are looking for some ideas for your trip to Southern Africa we have put together some suggested itineraries to help you get started planning your route.

Different areas become accessible / inaccessible at different times of the year. You can visit Zambia all year round, but the reason for your visit may dictate the best time of year for you.

There are always amazing places to visit across Southern Africa at all times of the year so do not be put off by the rain, in fact Victoria Falls is probably its most spectacular at the peak of the rainy season!


Southern Zambia Route – Livingstone (Victoria Falls), Lower Zambezi, Kafue, South Luangwa

• 15 Days
• Start point: Livingstone
• Finish point: Lusaka

Start off by spending time at Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Then head up to the Lower Zambezi National Park, and using a canoe, explore the wildlife on the banks of the Zambezi River. Kafue is next, the oldest and largest of Zambia’s National Parks. Final stop is South Luangwa known as ‘one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world’. Not bad for only 15 days!

Twitchers Paradise – Lochinvar, Kafue, Blue Lagoon

• 15 days
• Start point: Livingstone
• End point: Lusaka

Start off by spending time at Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Head north to the exceptional beauty of Lochinvar National park which has over 420 recorded species of birds. Then head across to Kafue is, the oldest and largest of Zambia’s National Parks. Finish in the Blue Lagoon National park which only recently opened to the public and is described as an ‘undiscovered gem’.

Western Zambia Route – Kafue National Park, Liuwa Plains, Sioma Falls, Livingstone

• 14 days
• Start point: Lusaka
• End point: Livingstone

Start in Kafue, the oldest and largest of Zambia’s National Parks. Travel on to the remote Liuwa Plains famed for the migration of Blue Wildebeest. Be one of only a handful of people to view the beautiful Sioma Falls before ending your trip in Livingstone to view the breath-taking mighty Victoria Falls. If you really want to get away from it all and everyone, this is the route for you!

Northern Zambia Route – Kasanka, Great North Road, ShiwaNgandu, North Luangwa, South Luangwa

• 14 days
• Start point: Lusaka
• End point: Lusaka

Start off in peaceful Kasanka National Park, one of the smallest in Zambia but world renowned for its superb birdlife. Travel up the Great North Road (Zambia’s section of the envisaged Cape to Cairo road) and on to the ShiwaNgandu Estate which is possibly ‘one of the most fascinating and unique destinations in Zambia’. Stop by and enjoy ‘one of the finest wilderness experiences in Zambia, if not Africa’ in North Luangwa National Park. Final stop is South Luangwa known as ‘one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world’.

Zimbabwe Experience – Victoria Falls, Chizarira, Hwange and Matobo National Parks

• 10 days
• Start point: Livingstone
• End point: Livingstone

Start off by spending time at Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Then head up to the rugged beauty of Chizarira National Park, a remote pristine park with ‘magnificent gorges and hectares of wild untouched flora and fauna’. Head south into Hwange National Park to see if you are lucky enough to spot Wild Dogs amongst an abundance of other wildlife. Last stop Matobo National Park a ‘range of dorms, spires and balancing rock formations’ and the home of Cecil John Rhodes grave. This route is suitable for travel at any time of the year.
